Some of my favorite childhood memories are in the kitchen. Baking with my mom, my friends, my grandma. I love surprising my people with fresh baked goods. Chocolate Chip Cookies were the first recipe I learned by heart because I baked them so often! Some weeks I'd make them more than once! The Flavor Story I'm sharing here was adapted from the Tollhouse Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe which I made time and time again!
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
2 1/4 Cup All Purpose Flour
3/4 Cup Granulated Sugar
3/4 Cup Brown Sugar
1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
Pinch Of Salt
1 Cup (2 Sticks) Salted Butter
2 Eggs
2 1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
2 Cups Mini Chocolate Chips (Or your favorite!)
Directions
Preheat the oven to 375 Degrees
Using a stand mixer with the paddle attachment (or a mixing bowl and spoon), beat your butter for 5 minutes on medium high speed - until it is fluffy, airy and light in color. This 5 minutes is ideal for the texture of the baked cookie.
Add in both brown sugar and granulated sugar and mix until combined.
Add vanilla extract and mix to incorporate.
Add one egg at a time, mixing after each egg.
In another bowl, add flour, baking soda and a pinch of salt. Mix with a fork.
Add the flour mixture into the wet ingredients and mix lightly.
Add in the chocolate chips and nuts if you'd like!
Mix well!
Using a cookie sheet with parchment paper, portion the cookie dough, leaving enough room for the cookies to spread as they bake.
Bake for 8 minutes.
Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool for a minute, then transfer the warm cookies onto a cooling rack.
Enjoy!
